The 2020 vintage seems to be a very fruity vintage, with great aromas, very fine tannins, but a little less density and power. You don't have to buy the most expensive wines to have great pleasure. We tried some wines from Vajra and Baudana under € 70.-, here are our favorites. For comparison, there is a slightly mature Barolo Riserva from Accomasso.

The G.D. Vajra 2020 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is very fruity with black fruits, violets, cassis and blueberries. The wine has a lot of glycerin, full body, very fine tannin and is long and dense and gets better with air. The wine will keep, but is already very enjoyable to drink. 19/20 points.

The wines from Baudana are somewhat more masculine. The Baudana 2020 Barolo Baudana has an expressive nose with licorice, black fruit, cherry and spices like cinnamon. The wine has full body, fine tannins, a long finish, great structure and is fresh. 19/20 points.

The Baudana 2020 Barolo Cerretta has citrus, cherry, cherry pits, full body, fine tannin, structure, a slight bitter note and is fresh and long. 19/20 points.

The Accomasso 2013 Barolo Rocche dell' Annunziata Riserva is now beginning to drink with slightly melted tannins. The wine will last for decades but can be enjoyed now with a meat-heavy meal. The wine has red fruits, herbs, full body, medium-long to long finish and is slightly animal, precise and perfectly balanced. 18.8/20 points.
