This time there is a current vintage from Schnaitmann and a mature sweet wine from the visionary Bernhard Philippi.
The Schnaitmann 2022 Fellbacher Lämmler Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs is far too young and still closed. The wine has cherry, strawberry, herbs, dark toast, full body, power and is balanced and dense. Currently 17.8/20 points, but potential for 18.5/20 points or more.
Bernhard Philippi already had the idea of producing a sweet wine similar to Sauternes in the mid-90s: The Bernhard Philippi 1994 Elysium Beerenauslese from the magnum has complexity with honey, Blossoms, myrrh, herbs, caramel, some eucalyptus, a medium to full body, medium length and is fresh and balanced. 18/20 points. Apparently the magnums are significantly better than the normal bottles, so we would always recommend the magnum.
