Today we have an excellent rose champagne as well as two great Barolos - one traditional and one modern.
The Charles Heidsieck 2008 Rose Brut is a great Rose Champagne that shines not through its fruit, but through its structure and complexity. The champagne has hazelnut, cherry, cherry pit, quince, some coffee, medium body, structure, some tannin and is phenolic, long, balanced and fresh. 18.5/20 points.
The Accomasso 2013 Barolo Rocche dell' Annunziata Riserva is a perfect traditional Barolo. The wine has slightly animal notes at first, then red fruits, white pepper, full body, balance, structure, a long finish, nice tannin and is clear and precise. 18.5/20 points.
The Aldo Conterno 2009 Barolo Romirasco is a modern Barolo with rosewood, dark toast, red fruits, with air also coconut, full body, structure and is long, perfectly balanced and fruity. 19/20 points.
