There is Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from California. In terms of quality, you can do without Burgundy.
One of the best vintages of this wine is the Kongsgaard 2020 Chardonnay. The wine has extreme density and power, but is perfectly balanced and harmonious. The wine has an expressive nose with roasted notes, blossoms, caramel, white chocolate, white nougat, some cinnamon, full body and is modern, fine, complex, dense, precise, long and very expressive. Best served in a large glass like the Zalto Burgundy. 19.5/20 points.
Like all Marcassin wines, this wine needed over an hour of aeration in the decanter: The Marcassin 2007 Chardonnay Three Sisters has caramel, white nougat, white chocolate, roasted notes, full body, perfect balance, long finish, high complexity and appears much younger. 19.5/20 points.
The Marcassin 2007 Pinot Noir Three Sisters also needs a lot of air in the decanter. The wine has cherry, blossoms, herbs, blackberry, violets (after prolonged aeration), some butter, some toast, full body, Burgundian structure and is perfectly balanced, long and complex. At least 19/20 points, perhaps a little more with plenty of air.
