Today we have a champagne from Marguet, an exotic white wine from the Teutoburger Wald, a mature Caymus Special Selection and a young Rauzan-Segla.
The Marguet 2011 La Grande Ruelle seems to consist of apple peel and apple cider vinegar. Not assessable.
An absolute exotic is the Brinkmann 2023 Solaris from the Teutoburg Forest and with a fungus-resistant grape variety. The wine is similar to a Sauvignon Blanc with cassis, phenolic notes, grapefruit, medium body, light residual sweetness and balance. 15.8/20 points.
The Caymus 1985 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection is from the peak period (70s/80s) for classic Californian wines and shows the high quality of this period. The wine has blackberry, cassis, elderberry, full body and is balanced, long, dense and complex. The wine improves with air. 19/20 points.
The Château Rauzan Segla 2020 Margaux 2eme Cru Classé looks like a modern Cabernet from California. The wine has lots of blackberry, cassis, full body, structure and a medium-long to long finish. 18.3/20 points.
