With the summer temperatures, you also need a sparkling wine and a rose. So we have a champagne, a Nebbiolo rose and a Cornas.

The Pierre Gimonnet 2012 Special Club Grands Terroirs de Chardonnay is a great champagne with beginning drinking maturity and first honey and brioche notes. The champagne also has blossoms, medium body, medium to long finish, fine perlage and is balanced and mineral. 18.5/20 points.

There are now several rosés from Piedmont, made predominantly from Nebbiolo. The Pio Cesare 2023 Rosy has 95% Nebbiolo and 5% Syrah and is fruity with strawberry and raspberry. The wine needs air and has medium body and a nice structure. 16.0/20 points.

The Alain Voge 2012 Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes has lots of fruit with blackberry and cherry, slightly animal notes, full body, supple tannin, balance, structure and a long finish. 18.8/20 points.
