More and more Cabernet Franc is being cultivated in Tuscany. Here is a comparison with Cabernet Franc from the Loire.

The Tenuta Meraviglia 2020 Rosso Bolgheri Vigna Pianali clearly tastes of Cabernet Franc with its very earthy notes. The wine is somewhat simple and angular, with a full body and medium length. 16.5/20 points.

The Tenuta Meraviglia 2019 Rosso Bolgheri Superiore Maestro di Cava also tastes of Cabernet Franc, but has seen more wood and is a little more polished. The wine has plaka, slightly sweetish notes, vanilla, earthy notes, very little green notes, full body, good balance and a long finish. 18.3/20 points.

The Tenuta di Trinoro 2020 Cabernet Franc Campo di Tenaglia is a great wine, but doesn't taste like Cabernet Franc. The wine has cherry liqueur, blackberry, some elderberry, full body, polished tannin, balance and medium to long finish. 18.8/20 points.

There is also a red wine from this estate: the Bouvet-Ladubay 1998 Saumur Champigny Les Nonpareils has animal notes, plaka, rosehip, amarena, praline box, medium to full body and is polished, balanced, complex and medium to long. 18.3/20 points.

The Roches Neuves 2013 Saumur-Champigny Les Memoires (from 110 year old vines) has animal notes, plaka, cherry, herbs, full body, structure and is dense, long, slightly phenolic and balanced. The wine has structure and power, but should be drunk now. 19/20 points.

The Cabernet Franc from the Loire were more fun, but maybe that's just due to maturity.
