It is little known, but there is also a Sancerre AOC for red wines. These are made from 100% Pinot Noir. Some of these wines are excellent to great, and here we are tasting one from the excellent 2014 vintage.

The Dominique Roger 2014 Sancerre Rouge Cuvée La Jouline has a powerful nose with herbs, black cherry, licorice, and a hint of Plaka. The wine is medium-bodied, balanced, with a medium-long to long finish, but somewhat lacking in complexity. 17.3/20 points.
