It's always good to have champagne as an aperitif. And we're trying a top-quality Etna wine.
The Laurent-Perrier 2004 Alexandra Rose shows how to make a serious rosé champagne. The wine has floral notes, strawberry, herbs, almost full body, structure, well-integrated tannins, balance, and a long finish. 19/20 points.
The wines from Etna are extremely interesting and show a lot of character. The Pietradolce 2016 Barbagalli has plum, a hint of black pepper, blueberry, herbs, a full body and seems light-footed despite its 15% ABV. The wine is elegant, fresh, long and has a good structure with polished tannins. 18.8/20 points.
