A tasty alternative to the Grand Marque champagnes from the supermarket are the delicious champagnes from smaller producers – both in terms of price and quality. Here are our recommendations.
The Pierre Moncuit 2012 Grand Cru Extra Brut is made from 100% Chardonnay and has a beautiful maturity thanks to long yeast aging. The champagne has a lot of fine perlage, a strong nose with brioche, nuts, and blossoms, a medium body, medium length, and is mineral, long, and balanced. 18.3/20 points.
The Lancelot-Pienne NV Accord Majeur Blanc de Noirs is made from 85% Pinot Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir, mainly from the 2017 vintage with 23% reserve, and was disgorged in 2024. The champagne has a fine perlage and a medium-strength nose, mainly with blossoms, a medium body, perfect balance, medium length, and is round and fresh. 17.8/20 points.
