Riesling is the ideal grape variety if you are interested in fresh and complex white wines. Now there are two great character wines.
The J.B. Becker 2011 Wallufer Walkenberg Riesling Auslese trocken is already sensational, but will keep for decades. The wine has cigar box, whiskey barrel, blossoms, lots of black tea, tobacco, apricot and peach when aired, full body, balance, freshness from acidity and lots of extract. 19/20 points.
The Immich-Batterieberg 2020 Zeppwingert Riesling has apricot, peach, blossoms, a hint of gummy bears, a slight residual sweetness, medium to full body, balance, a long finish, and is fresh and mineral. 18.8/20 points.
