NEW: Praise and blame of corked wines

Today we have Monbousquet, Sociando-Mallet and Monte Bello.

The Château Monbousquet 1998 St. Emilion Grand Cru is an archetypal Bordeaux with herbal, cassis, and slightly earthy notes. It has a medium to full body, a beautiful structure with sufficient tannins, a long finish, density, a smooth texture, lovely complexity, and balance. 18.3/20 points.

The Château Sociando Mallet 1990 Haut Médoc Crus Bourgeois is perhaps the best vintage the estate has ever produced. The wine has sweet notes, cassis, some animal notes, licorice, tar, a full body, structure, a long finish, and density. Decanting is essential! 18.8/20 points.

The Ridge 2014 Monte Bello is already sensationally drinkable but has even more potential. The wine has a complex nose with notes of oak, vanilla, rosewood, raspberry, cassis, and powdered sugar. It boasts high complexity, a full body, perfect balance, structure, and a long finish. 19.5/20 points.
