Now it is time for Nahe Riesling, Barolo and Amarone.
The Dönnhoff 2016 Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Großes Gewächs is still young; it needs time but shows great potential. It offers blossom notes, hints of apricot and peach, and light spicy nuances; it is medium-to-full-bodied with a medium-to-long finish, displaying a mineral character alongside freshness, creaminess, and fruitiness. 18.5/20 points.
The Masi 1981 Amarone Mazzano has held up remarkably well. It presents blossom notes, red fruits, and damson plum; with extended aeration, aromas of coffee, dates, and malt emerge. Full-bodied, fresh, and dense, it is mineral-driven with a long finish. 18.8/20 points.
The Aurelio Settimo 1990 Barolo Riserva is a classic Barolo defined by structure and tannins. It offers notes of powdered sugar and rosehip - developing dried rose petals with aeration - alongside a full body, forest floor nuances, and a lovely freshness. It shows no signs of age. 18.8/20 points.
