Perfect for the dessert we had two fine Mosel sweets with low alcohol (both 7.5%), freshness and a complex sweetness.
The vineyard Kanzemer Altenberg is one of our favorite vineyards. It always brings for dry and sweet Rieslings very opulent and fruity wines with aromas of exotic fruits like papaya, passion fruit and ananas but also peach, apricot and lime. Van Volxem and Von Othegraven are the best producers. The Van Volxem 2006 Kanzemer Altenberg Riesling Auslese has all this aromas and additional black tea and is cremy, dense, long, balanced, sweet and juicy. It has enough acidity for a perfect balance. 18.3/20 points.
The Markus Molitor 1998 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Eiswein has more sweetness with caramel, hazelnut and peppermint. It is medium- to full-bodied, dense, long, balanced and complex as well as a lot of burnt caramel and butterscotch. The acidity is high enough, so that this wine is neither broad nor heavy. 18.8/20 points.
