The Loire wine region is very dynamic and producers a lot of interesting and great wine. The red wines of the Loire from Cabernet Franc can now be drunk young, but improve over many years of maturity.

The Chateau de Villeneuve 1996 Saumur-Champigny Le Grand Clos is a very spicy and complex wine with plaka, cinnamon, herbs and blackberries.
It has full-body, a good structure, slightly polished tannin and seems a lot younger. 18.8/20 points.

Clos Rougeard is famous for their very elegant and complex wines from Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. In terms of elegance, it is the best winery at the Loire. The Clos Rougeard 2007 Saumur-Champigny Les Pouyeaux is a very typical representative with raspberry, blossoms and wild strawberries. It has medium- to full-body, perfect balance, density, fine tannins, a long finish and especially complexity and elegance. 19/20 points.
