Who & Why

Find out who we are and why we do this: About us

We had a great evening with Argiolas Turriga and Kongsgaard Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Argiolas 1995 Turriga is perhaps one of the best wines from Sardinia and it can age very well.  With animal and blackberry in the nose, it has full-body, polished tannin, structure, a long finish, density, balance and complexity. It won't fade away in a decade. 18.3/20 points.

Incredibly, this is the normal Chardonnay. We know many vintages of Chardonnay "The Judge" which is always perfection or almost near-perfection. But this time it is the normal Chardonnay and it is perhaps the best vintage ever made. The Kongsgaard 2017 Chardonnay. The wine is expressiv on the nose with lemon, orange zest, white nougat, blossoms and continues the same way on the palate where it gets more and more vanilla and white nougat with aeration. The wine is all about elegance and complexity with mineral, a long finish, perfect balance and a Burgundian style. It doesn't have the same power and density like the Judge but who cares. 19.3/20 points.

Although it is Napa, the The Kongsgaard 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon tastes like a cool Mountain Cab. With powdered sugar, cassis, blackberries, herbs and elder it has full-body, a lot of tannin for a Cabernet, a long finish, mineral, elegance, structure and density. It has a lot of fruit but is not sweet. 19/20 points.
