It's hard to find affordable red burgundy. Luckily we got some bottles donated by a friend. If you search hard enough you can find great affordable burgundies.

The Robert Doucet 1985 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Le Val is a bit rustic but it has the typical sweetness of a ripe Burgundy together with structure, power and a long finish. The aromas are rosehip, undergrowth, truffle and herbs. 17/20 points.

The Jean Bouchard 1976 Nuits St. Georges AC has coffee, cherry, box of chocolates, bacon, a medium-body but it is a bit lean on the palate. 17.5/20 points.

The Robert Doucet 1985 Santenay 1er Cru La Comme has herbs, bacon, some iodine, a medium to full-body, a midium long finish and medium complexity. 17.5/20 points.

After the 1949 Clos de Vougeot, the Château Leymarie 1976 Ile de Vergelesses Tete de Cuvée is the second great wine from this negociant. The wine  has coffee, red currant, cassis, a medium to full-body, tannin, structure, complexity, a long finish, power and high density. 18.5/20 points.

1977 was a lean vintage in Burgundy. Nevertheless there are fine wines like the Chanson 1977 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Le Vergelesses. The wine is very ripe with mint, beet syrup, herbs, a medium-body, some acidity and a medium long finish. 16.5/20 points.
