Happy New Year!

Guigal produces impressive quality across the entire spectrum of its wine range. Even the simplest wine in the range, the Cotes du Rhone, receives 15.5-16.8/20 points from us, depending on the vintage.

If you want Cote Rotie, but the Lalas are too expensive, then the Cote Rotie Château d'Ampuis is the right wine. It is just a little less complex and has slightly more rustic tannins, but it needs years to reach its peak. With increasing age, the gap to the Lalas becomes smaller.

The Guigal 2001 Cote Rotie Château d'Ampuis is now perfectly ripe, with many powerful animal aromas at the beginning, including plaka, leather and also rosehip. With sufficient aeration, the animal aromas recede and the wine becomes increasingly elegant. The wine should therefore be decanted. On the palate the wine has a full body, a beautiful freshness, cherry flavors, an almost long finish and is balanced and complex. 18.8/20 points.
