Who & Why

Find out who we are and why we do this: About us

La Spinetta is one of the best Barbaresco producers. Here we have two different Barbaresco vineyards, but the vintage makes a much bigger difference. Therefore, the difference between a classic vintage (1999) and a hot vintage (1997) can be observed very well.

The La Spinetta 1999 Barbaresco Starderi shows its classic vintage very well with moss, undergrowth, tar, herbs, cherry, a full-body, tannin, structure, balance and a long finish, cherry, bal., still tannin, herbs, classic. The wine is almost youthful and will last at least another decade. 18/20 points.

The La Spinetta 1997 Barbaresco Valeirano is from a hot vintage. The wine has nougat, chocolate, hazelnut, cherry, a full-body, balance, structure and a long finish. The tannin has partly melted and the aroma is expressive and sexy. The wine should be drunken now. 18.5/20 points.

We observed that usually Nebbiolo from hot years have a life-time of about 20 years.
