Two fine Rieslings from Nahe and Mosel.

The Schlossgut Diel 2017 Burgberg Riesling Großes Gewächs is a typical Riesling from the Nahe with apricot, peach, phenolic and a lot of mineral. It has medium-body and a slightly acidity which is balanced by structure and density. 17.5/20 points.

You would never expect such a modern wine from this traditional winery (first documented mention 966!): The C. von Schubert'sche Schlosskellerei - Maximin Grünhaus 2011 Abtsberg Riesling Fusion is matured in barriques and has mirabelle plum, blossoms, herbs, full-body and a bit vanilla. It is long, dense, balanced, mineral and very complex. It is a fusion of a fine Riesling with a perfect integrated use of wood - nothing for Riesling purists but for character lovers. 18.8/20 points.
