Who & Why

Now we have various wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from California, a Barbaresco and a modern Ribera del Duero.

This Martinelli wine again has a lot of alcohol (15.4%) but you don't notice it. The Martinelli 2017 Russian River Valley Chardonnay Martinelli Road Vineyard has an opulent nose with blossoms, vanilla, a lot of pineapple and other exotic fruits. It is full-bodied, dense, creamy, complex and has a long finish and a perfect balance. 19/20 points.

The Martinelli 2018 Fort Ross Seaview Pinot Noir Three Sisters has coffee, a lot of strawberry, a full-body, a long finish, complexity, structure and a light phenolic note. This is how an opulent, modern, fruity Pinot should be. 19/20 points.

Although 2003 was a very hot year, there are a lot of great Nebbiolos like the Barbaresco from La Spinetta or Paolo Scavino's Bric del Fiasc. Or this one: The Albino Rocca 2003 Barbaresco Loreto has a lot of blossoms, especially violets, liquorice, dried rose petals but no forest floor or tar. The wine has a full-body, lots of tannin, a medium to long finish and a slightly sweet fruit. 18.5/20 points.

The Aalto 2007 Aalto is a very modern wine from Ribera del Duero with a huge amound of Barrique. The nose has a lot of American oak with Silesian pickle pot, coconut and vanilla. The wine is full-bodied and balanced with a medium to long finish and a good structure. 18.5/20 points.
