Who & Why

Here we have Boekenhoutskloof The Journeyman and Shafer Hillside Select.

The Boekenhoutskloof 2015 The Journeyman consists of mainly Cabernet Franc and a bit Merlot. The wine has licorice, blackberries, graphite, a full-body, balance, structure, density, a long finish, mineral and a slightly earthiness. You can start to drink it now, but it will hold for a decade or more. This is one of the top Cabernet Franc in the world. 19/20 points.

The Shafer 1998 Hillside Select has more European style although it also has American oak. The wine has cassis, spice, blackberry, a full-body, very mineral, graphite and it is youthful, dense and complex. This is perhaps the most classic Hillside Select with the least opulent Californian fruit. 18.8/20 points.
