Who & Why

Let's have a long evening with wines from different countries.

The Juve y Camps 2001 Gran Reserva Brut Nature Cava Reserva de la Familia has retsina-like aromatics, but unfortunately cork.

With some maturity, champagnes become great like the Laurent-Perrier 2004 Belle Epoque. This Champagne has fine perlage and a powerful nose with blossoms, some caramel and white nougat. It has medium body, balance and a long finish and is very elegant. 19/20 points.

The Shafer 2013 Relentless (97% Syrah, 3% Petite Sirah) is very similar to an Australian Shiraz with vanilla, mocha, blueberry, blackberry, full-body, high density, medium to long finish, lots of fruit but unfortunately noticeable alcohol and only moderate complexity. 17.5/20 points.

The Cerbaiona 2010 Brunello di Montalcino shows the typical finesse and elegance of a Brunello. The wine has red berries, herbs, black tea, powdered sugar, full body, long finish, high complexity and is mediterranean, polished and elegant, with a slight fruit sweetness. 18.5/20 points.

The Meyer-Näkel 2015 Dernauer Pfarrwingert Spätburgunder Großes Gewächs is clearly identifiable as a German Spätburgunder from the slate. The wine has mocha, strawberry, kirsch, full body, perfect balance, some tannin and medium to long finish. 18.3/20 points.
