Garage de Papa is perhaps the best wine from Israel at the moment. Bernhard Koch makes fantastic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Palatinate, but is not yet as well known despite the high quality.

The Lewinsohn 2020 Garage de Papa is kosher and is 90% Syrah and 10% Petite Sirah (also known as Durif). The wine has lots of dark toasted barrique, blackberry, cherry, black pepper, medium to full body and a very light lactic. The wine is fruity and elegant and has potential. 17.8/20 points.

The Bernhard Koch 2012 Pinot Noir Grande Reserve is not a dense power wine, but very elegant, balanced, complex and with Burgundian structure. The wine has a lot of barrique with mocha notes, kirsch, full body and great drinking pleasure. 18.5/20 points.
