Today we have Rheinhessen and Rheingau - Klaus Keller with his best white-labeled Riesling and Weingut Krone with two excellent Pinot Noir.
The Klaus Keller 2018 Riesling RR Reserve is the best quality of the white-labeled Rieslings and a good choice if you don't want to spend the money for the Großes Gewächs. The wine has lime, white chocolate, herbs, peach, a medium body, mineral, density and a medium to long finish. It needs some time in the decanter. 18/20 points.
The Krone Assmannshausen 2013 Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Spätburgunder is very fruity with cassis, violet pastilles, black cherries, herbs, a medium body, perfect balance, some tannin, good structure and a long finish. Its acidity gives freshness, the slight residual sweetness makes a perfect balance. 18/20 points.
The Krone Assmannshausen 2013 Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Spätburgunder Juwel is similar to it but with less fruit but more complexity and elegance. This wine also adds a dark toast with mocha to nose and palate. 18.5/20 points.
