We had the opportunity to taste some wines at a consignment.

The Reinhold & Cornelia Schneider 1998 Pinot Noir *** R held up surprisingly well. The winery continues to be an insider tip. The wine is very dense with red currants, rosehip, tar, almost full body, good structure for its age due to relatively high tannin and with aeration also licorice. 17.8/20 points.

The Jaboulet-Vercherre 1978 Beaune Clos L'Ecu is an archetypal ripe Burgundy with chocolate, cherry, phenolic notes, medium body, long finish and Burgundian structure. 17.8/20 points.

The Patriarche 1964 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is a sensational Burgundy with chocolate, kirsch, full body with masculine structure, still tannic, medium to long finish, cool fruit and lots of power and density. The wine needs to breathe in the decanter and stands up superbly on day two, perhaps even better than day one. 18.8/20 points.

The Barriere 1952 Châteauneuf-du-Pape unfortunately had a very slight cork. Otherwise, this would definitely be a great wine with chocolate, cherry, full body and excellent structure. At least 18/20 points.
