Once again, brilliant wines from California and additionally a Mosel Spätlese.
The Dominus 2014 Proprietary Red has cassis, blackberry, a full body, structure, a long finish, a slight sweetness, elegance, perfect balance, complexity and is archetypal California. The wine is so dense and expressive that it needs the Zalto Burgundy glass. 19.5/20 points.
The Caymus 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection is near perfect ripeness now, but still has potential. The wine has cassis, herbs, plaka, vanilla, coffee, a full body, balance and complexity. 19.3/20 points.
A typical Mosel Spätlese, mineral and light-footed, is the F.J. Eifel 2015 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Spätlese Goldstückchen with apricot, peach, exotic fruit, with air white chocolate, lime, medium body, perfect balance and long finish. 17.8/20 points.
