Who & Why

Find out who we are and why we do this: About us

This time we have wines from the Rhone, Tuscany, Palatinate and Würtemberg.

White Chateauneuf du Pape wines with 100% Clairettes are for us among the most interesting wines of the Rhone: the Domaine Saint Préfert 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Speciale Vieilles Clairettes is light on its feet, mineral, rather lean and fresh by its acidity with herbs, nutmeg and spicy notes, full body and long finish. 18.8/20 points.

The H.E. Dausch 2018 Pinot Noir L'Artiste is one of the most expensive Pinot Noir wines in Germany. The wine has chocolate, cherry, amarena, a full body, balance, medium length and a soft structure. We would have expected more. 17.8/20 points.

The Friedrich Becker 2018 Pinot Noir Heydenreich is one of Germany's best Pinot Noirs with a complex nose with light animalism, kirsch, herbs, strawberry, plum and full body. The wine needs plenty of air and is very Burgundian with Grand Cru quality. 19/20 points.

The San Giusto a Rentennano 2007 Percarlo is a classic no frills Tuscan wine with tar, herbs, blackberry, cherry, bacon, full body, balance, a long finish, density, structure and some acidity. 18.5/20 points.

The Aldinger 2020 Merlot Reserve has chocolate, cassis, mocha, full body, balance, a medium-long finish and nice fruit. 17/20 points.

The Wöhrwag 2020 Cabernet Franc is a positive surprise, we would not have expected such high quality from a Cabernet Franc from Germany. The wine has blackberry, cassis, powdered sugar, earthy notes, full body, balance, a long finish and high density. 18.3/20 points.
