Here we have vintages 1947, 1995, 2015 and 2016.
The Freisa grape variety has a similar tannin structure to Nebbiolo, so these wines can also age well. The Pio Cesare 1947 Freisa already has a very dense hazelnut color and is oxidized with dignity with malt, dark chocolate and some sour cherry. The wine has a full body, some acidity and a long finish with some tannin. For old wine fans, 18.5/20 points.
The Georg Breuer 1995 Schlossberg Riesling held up surprisingly well. The wine needs a lot of air and then has a complex nose with apricot, honey, blossoms, gummy bears, slate and orange. The wine is mineral, very dry and balanced with medium body and a medium long finish. 18.8/20 points.
Among the best Chardonnay producers in Germany, Bernhard Huber is rightfully so. The Bernhard Huber 2015 Hecklinger Schlossberg Chardonnay Großes Gewächs has incipient drinking maturity now and belongs to the old world stylistically. The wine has flint, dark toasted wood and phenolics and is a bit vegetal at first. The wine has a full body, a very long finish, density, elegance and balance. 19/20 points.
The Domenico Clerico 2016 Barolo Ciabot Mentin has some edgy tannin for vintage 2016, but is a wonderful wine with violets, blueberry, licorice, tar, plaka, red fruit, full body, lots of tannin and a long finish. 18.8/20 points.
