One of the best vineyards for Spätburgunder in Germany is often overlooked: The Fellbacher Lämmler. In addition to sensational Lemberger, great Spätburgunder are also produced here. We taste 3 different producers.
The Schnaitmann 2020 Fellbacher Lämmler Spätburgunder Großes Gewächs is still very young and not yet fully developed. The wine needs time and has great potential. At the moment, structure and tannin are in the foreground. The wine has cherry, strawberry, medium to full body and is dense and balanced. Currently 18/20 points with potential for more.
The Aldinger 2019 Fellbacher Lämmler Spätburgunder Großes Gewächs has opulent fruit with strawberry and cherry, but also a slight lactic note. The wine has medium to full body, medium length and is dense, but not very complex. 17.3/20 points.
The Heid 2020 Fellbacher Lämmler Spätburgunder Großes Gewächs combines structure and opulent fruit with cherry, blueberry, cassis and herbs. The wine has medium to full body and is spicy, long, balanced and dense. 18.5/20 points.
