Today there is one Merlot from the Napa Valley and two Barolo.

The Shafer 2013 Napa Valley Merlot is 90% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Malbec. The wine has enough backbone and density that you don't taste the 15.3% ABV. The wine has blueberry, black fruit, full body, lots of fruit, medium-long to long finish and is smooth and balanced. 18/20 points.

The Altare 2010 Barolo Cerretta Vigna Bricco is an archetypal Barolo with herbs, black fruit, full body, balance, long finish, structure and density. The wine needs aeration and then is relatively soft on the tannins. 18.5/20 points.

The Aurelio Settimo 2016 Barolo Rocche dell Annunziata Riserva is a very classic Barolo Riserva that has been aged very oxidatively. The wine already has a garnet red color, dates, air-dried rose petals, full body, lots of tannin, long finish, structure and is fresh and balanced. The wine should definitely be decanted. 18/20 points for lovers of classic, oxidative Barolo Riserva.
