The Aldo Conterno 2008 Barolo Romirasco is a sensational modern Barolo with bounty, spices, herbs, vanilla, cigar box, whisky barrel, full body, polished tannins, perfect balance, great structure, long finish and high density. The wine is light on its feet and you don't notice the 15% ABV. This is one of the best modern Barolo. He has now reached perfect maturity, but will remain at this level for many years to come. 19.5/20 points.
The Giacomo Conterno 2008 Barolo Monfortino Riserva has perfect tannin and structure. The wine has red fruits, with air forest floor, some tar, full body, perfect balance, very fine tannin, a long finish, perfect structure and is dense and complex. 19.8/20 points. The Monfortino is expensive, but it is the best traditional Barolo.
