Who & Why

Find out who we are and why we do this: About us

Today we have Château de Beaucastel 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Roussane Vieilles Vignes, Dönnhoff 2015 Norheimer Dellchen Riesling Großes Gewächs and Lake's Folly 1992 Cabernet.

The Château de Beaucastel 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Roussane Vieilles Vignes has floor wax, candied fruits such as apricot and peach, stone powder, lots of glycerine, a long finish and a great density. The wine fills the palate completely, but is somewhat alcoholic. 18.5/20 points.

The Dönnhoff 2015 Norheimer Dellchen Riesling Großes Gewächs is aromatically a bit thin, but clearly recognizable as a Riesling. The acidity is typically crisp Riesling and the wine has bean wax, apricot and peach. It is balanced and very mineral. 18/20 points.

We would never have thought that an Australian Cabernet would age so well. The Lake's Folly 1992 Cabernet from Hunter Valley tastes like a good Bordeaux with cassis, red bell pepper, leather and blackberry. The wine is complex and slightly animal, fresh, long and tastes much younger. 19/20 points. Wow!
