1971 was a vintage of the century for Barolo, in which even small wineries were able to produce sensational and long-lasting wines. This Barolo was donated by a friend who still has a few bottles of it and will soon be consigning it to an auction.
The Prandi 1971 Barolo needs air, lots of air, at least 4 hours of aeration in the decanter. Then the wine has herbs, quince and still fruit, mainly cherries. The wine has full body, structure, a medium-long finish,
polished tannin and is balanced and still appears relatively young for its age. The wine will last at least another decade and perhaps even improves a little more. 18/20 points.
