Who & Why

Find out who we are and why we do this: About us

This time we are tasting a white wine from Italy and three wines from Franconia.

The La Collina dei Ciliegi 2021 Prea Bianco Verona IGT shows that not only excellent red wines come from Italy. The wine made from Garganega, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay has phenolic notes, nettle, medium to full body, lots of glycerin and is creamy and balanced. 17.5/20 points.

One of the best modern Silvaners is the Zehnthof Luckert 2023 Maustal Silvaner Großes Gewächs. The wine has yellow plum, apricot, full body and is creamy, dense, mineral, long, expressive, elegant and perfectly balanced. A wine to drink now. 19/20 points.

The Steintal 2017 Großheubacher Bischofsberg Spätburgunder Großes Gewächs is a powerful and very fruity wine with cherry, blueberry, cassis, tobacco, medium to full body, long finish and phenolic notes. 18.8/20 points.

The Fürst 2016 Hundsrück Spätburgunder Großes Gewächs is a perfect pirate for any Burgundy tasting with Grand Cru wines. The wine has raspberry, mocha, some phenolic and earthy notes, medium to full body, perfect balance, medium to long finish, a great Spätburgunder sweetness and is polished and elegant with Burgundian structure. We always preferred Centgrafenberg or Schlossberg in its youth, but this wine shows the potential of Hundsrück with a few years of aging. 19/20 points.
