This was a hedonistic evening with an Auslese RR from Koehler-Ruprecht and a Puligny-Montrachet from Jean-Claude Bachelet.
The Koehler-Ruprecht 2009 Kallstadter Saumagen Riesling Auslese trocken RR is a very rare wine which is nearly impossible to find on the market. We are glad that we had the opportunity to taste it. The nose is perfect with herbs, butter and honey. The wine is full-bodied with a lot of glycerine, perfectly balanced, phenolic and a medium to full finish. It is a character wine with a lot of tannin for a white wine but it is so seductive and very clos to perfection. 19.5/20 points.
Although we tasted the Jean-Claude Bachelet 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous Le Puits some weeks ago, it is a great fun to repeat it. Great white wines from Burgundy at a fair price are a rarity. But here it is. With vanilla, cake batter and lime, it gets spicy with air. It has a full body, perfect balance, mineral, density and a lot of glycerine. 18.8/20 points.
