This time we tasted Les Manyes 2008, La Lagune 1982 and the new white Rioja from Marques de Murrieta.
The Terroir al Limit 2008 Les Manyes is an excellent wine but too expensive for the quality (auction price € 110.-). It displays cherry fruit and rosewood flavours but is also a bit lactic. It is full-bodied, dense and has a long finish and and a medium complexity. Maybe already a bit past its prime. 17.3/20 points.
The Chateau La Lagune 1982 shows the quality of the great vintage 1982. In such vintages you are happy with wines from the smaller estates. It has cassis, rose hip, lots of powdered sugar. It is medium- to full-body with a medium to long finish and is wonderfully balanced and dense. Now it has the perfect maturity to have real fun with it. 18/20 points.
If you want a modern white Rioja then Marques de Murrieta 2016 Capellania is your wine. It is a Reserva with the typical flavours of wax, vanilla and herbs. Medium- to full-body, good structure and excellent balance as well as a medium to long finish. It can be enjoyed young. 18/20 points.
