One of the famous white wines of the Rhone is the Chateau de Beaucastel 2017 Roussanne Vieilles Vignes. In our experience, it must be drunk young. Forget everything some tasters say about residual sweet wine. In fact Rieslings with residual sugar are among the most interesting wines in the world, especially Kabinett and Spätlese from the Mosel. These wines have a perfect interplay of sweetness and acidity, low alcohol and lots of fruit. So, the Witwe Dr. Thanisch 2015 Bernkasteler Doctor Riesling Kabinett was the first empty bottle this evening. The wine has powdered sugar and a lot of exotic fruits, a medium-body, the perfect sweet-acidity-interplay with a light sweetness, a medium long finish and a great juiciness. Only 8% alcohol! 19.3/20 points.
