Our wines from the Kistler mailling list have just arrived. And we taste a surprising Greek wine.
The Kistler 2019 Chardonnay Stone-Flat Vineyard starts with forest fire and a lot of Barrique. With aeration it has phenolic, lime, white chocolate, full-body, density and a long finish. Although the wine is very mineral, it is surprisingly opulent for the Stone-Flat vineyard, probably the most opulent vintage. 18.3/20 points.
The Kistler 2019 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard has iodine, blossoms, epsecially jasmine, crushed rocks, beeswax and some white chocolate. With full-body, balance and medium to long finish, the wine is extremely complex, harmonious and characterfull. 19/20 points.
This Greek wine is all about character and complexity: The Thymiopoulos Vineyards 2010 Naoussa has cherry, raspberry, blackberry, black currant and a hint of tar. It has full-body, balance, a long finish and phenolic. Along with Kokkalis, it is perhaps one of the best wines in Greece. 18/20 points.
